Presented by Anne Truger, Instructional Tech Specialist - Special Ed. Dist. of Lake County, IL
The focus of this session is Google Docs which is one of the applications that are part of the entire Google Apps Suite.
Google Apps for Personal Use vs. Google Apps for Education - district needs a domain name that Google is aware of.
Recommends creating multiple accounts
Google Apps for Education
You can decide everything you want educators to have to access to via the district domain
The district owns the data, not Google, when you have a district domain
Uses Chrome for logging to her education account and Firefox for her personal account
Documents are automatically shared, when you share with others.
Google Docs includes:
Documents - word processor
Spreadsheets
Forms
Presentations
Drawing
Fusion Table
Shows us a video called "Google Docs in Plain English"
Great for collaborating on one document. Everyone comes to single document to make changes. Can follow changes, and check revision history to delete or modify changes that are made.
bit.ly/maculcollection - sample documents
Sharing settings
You can set level of editing, collaborating allowed
FORMS: Ok, just responded to a shared form. Very cool. Now learning how to create an actual form.
I have to admit that the form creator is a very cool tool! I like the reporting features.
Utilize bitly.com to create short url links to share a shortened link to your form.
PRESENTATION: Can add Google Drawings into your Google Presentation
